Phehlukwayo Metal is a well-regarded manufacturer and supplier located in Cape Town, South Africa, specializing in high-purity aluminium products, including Aluminium 1050 forgings. The company has built a reputation for providing precision-engineered components that cater to various industries such as electrical, chemical, architectural, and food processing. By blending modern forging techniques with rigorous quality standards, Phehlukwayo Metal ensures that their products are consistent, highly formable, and resistant to corrosion. Their Aluminium 1050 forgings are perfect for applications that require excellent conductivity and ductility, making them a trusted choice for clients looking for affordable, top-notch aluminium solutions suited for a wide array of non-structural uses.
Aluminium 1050 forgings consist of about 99.5% pure aluminium, with trace amounts of iron (up to 0.4%) and silicon (up to 0.25%). This alloy, which isn’t heat-treatable, boasts remarkable corrosion resistance, high electrical and thermal conductivity, and good ductility. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 60 to 100 MPa and a yield strength of around 25 to 30 MPa, depending on the temper. While it may not have the highest mechanical strength, Aluminium 1050 is easy to fabricate, weld, and anodize. These characteristics make it particularly well-suited for cold working and forming processes, where purity, conductivity, and environmental resistance take precedence over strength.

Yes, Aluminum 1050 forgings can be shaped into custom designs through processes like open-die and closed-die forging, allowing for precise, unique shapes tailored to specific applications.
The ideal temperature range for forging Aluminium 1050 forgings is between 350°C to 500°C (660°F to 930°F), ensuring optimal material flow and minimizing the risk of cracking or deformation.
The forging process for Aluminium 1050 typically takes between 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the complexity and size of the part, along with the required heat treatment and finishing steps.
Aluminium 1050 forgings find extensive use in applications where corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and formability are essential. Common applications include electrical components like bus bars and conductor plates, as well as chemical equipment, light reflectors, and signage. In the food and beverage sector, it’s utilized in tanks, trays, and cooking utensils due to its non-toxic properties. The alloy is also employed in HVAC systems, roofing, and decorative architectural features.
