Phehlukwayo Metal, based in Cape Town, South Africa, is a reliable manufacturer and supplier specializing in Aluminium 5052 forgings. They cater to various industries, including marine, automotive, aerospace, and general engineering, providing top-notch forged components that are well-known for their strength and resistance to corrosion. With cutting-edge forging techniques and rigorous quality control measures, Phehlukwayo Metal guarantees that their Aluminium 5052 forgings not only meet industry standards but also satisfy customer needs. These forgings are celebrated for their durability and excellent workability, making them perfect for applications that demand resilience in tough environments and solid mechanical performance.
Aluminium 5052 forgings mainly consist of aluminium mixed with magnesium (2.2–2.8%) and trace amounts of chromium (0.15–0.35%), which boost their strength and corrosion resistance. This alloy isn’t heat-treatable but offers remarkable resistance to corrosion, especially in seawater and marine settings, along with good weldability and fatigue strength. Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 210 to 260 MPa, a yield strength of about 130 MPa, and an elongation of up to 12%. Its unique blend of strength, corrosion resistance, and formability makes it an excellent choice for forged parts that face challenging conditions.

Aluminum 5052 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, good weldability, and formability. It's lightweight, durable, resistant to stress cracking, and performs well in marine and industrial environments, making it ideal for custom forgings.
Aluminum 5052 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and poor high-temperature strength. Alloys like 7075 or 2011 are better suited for such applications.
Aluminum 5052 has excellent workability, making it suitable for forging. Its low-to-medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and formability allow for ease in shaping, reducing the risk of cracking during forging.
In the marine and automotive sectors, Aluminium 5052 forgings are highly valued for their exceptional corrosion resistance and moderate strength. They are commonly used in applications like fuel tanks, pressure vessels, marine hulls, truck panels, and structural components. This alloy is also found in electrical enclosures, storage tanks, and household appliances, thanks to its good weldability and durability. Furthermore, Aluminium 5052 forgings are utilized in transportation equipment and aircraft components, where being lightweight and resistant to environmental factors is essential.
