Phehlukwayo Metal stands out as a premier manufacturer and supplier of precision-forged metal components, proudly based in Cape Town, South Africa. With a focus on high-performance alloys like Aluminium 7050, the company serves demanding industries such as aerospace, defense, and engineering. Thanks to their advanced forging techniques and rigorous quality control, Phehlukwayo Metal consistently delivers components that meet the highest industry standards. Their Aluminium 7050 forgings are celebrated for their remarkable strength, resistance to corrosion, and impressive fatigue performance. Clients throughout South Africa and beyond trust Phehlukwayo Metal for dependable service, quick turnaround times, and components designed for critical structural applications.
Aluminium 7050 forgings are primarily made up of aluminium, featuring key alloying elements like zinc (5.7–6.7%), magnesium (1.9–2.6%), and copper (2.0–2.6%). This alloy is known for its exceptional strength and outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, especially in thicker sections. In the T7451 temper, it boasts a tensile strength of up to 510 MPa and a yield strength of around 455 MPa, along with good toughness and fatigue resistance. While it’s not as weldable as some lower-series aluminium alloys, 7050’s mechanical performance in high-stress environments makes it a preferred choice for aerospace and military-grade structural components where performance is non-negotiable.

Yes, Aluminum 7050 can be forged into shapes with tight tolerances, as it offers good strength and machinability. However, precise control over temperature and pressure is required for optimal results.
Aluminum 7050 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its limited heat resistance. It is better suited for aerospace and structural applications, offering good strength at lower temperatures.
Aluminum 7050 offers high strength, excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and good fatigue resistance. It's ideal for aerospace and military applications, providing superior performance in custom forgings.
Aluminium 7050 forgings find extensive use in applications that demand high strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors. Common applications include structural parts for aircraft, such as bulkheads, fuselage frames, wing skins, and landing gear components. Its performance in thicker cross-sections makes it perfect for heavily loaded structures. In the defense industry, it’s utilized in missile components and armored vehicle parts. While it’s less frequently used in commercial applications, its unique properties make it a standout choice for critical uses.
