Carbon Steel EN-36C is a nickel-chromium case hardening steel, typically featuring around 0.12–0.18% carbon, 3.0–3.75% nickel, 0.5–1.0% chromium, and 0.4–0.7% manganese. It’s engineered for carburizing, resulting in an incredibly hard surface paired with a tough, ductile core. After undergoing case hardening, EN-36C can achieve surface hardness levels exceeding 60 HRC while still maintaining excellent core strength and fatigue resistance. It offers good machinability in its annealed state and fair weldability, although preheating is often necessary. EN-36C is particularly suited for components that face high impact and wear over extended service periods.
