Stainless Steel 347 Forgings are a stabilized austenitic stainless steel primarily made up of iron, chromium (17–19%), nickel (9–13%), carbon (0.04–0.10%), and niobium/tantalum as stabilizers. This unique composition offers excellent high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, and creep resistance. The material boasts a tensile strength of around 515–620 MPa, yield strength of 205–275 MPa, and impressive toughness. Its ferrite-free austenitic structure ensures stability at elevated temperatures and prevents carbide precipitation along grain boundaries, making it ideal for critical applications where long-term durability and mechanical reliability are a must.

Stainless Steel 347 forgings have limitations in extreme temperatures above 1600°F (870°C), susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environments, and reduced formability compared to some other stainless steel grades.
The forging temperature range for Stainless Steel 347 is typically between 2100°F (1149°C) and 2200°F (1204°C). It ensures optimal grain structure and mechanical properties for high-performance applications.
Stainless Steel 347 forgings require minimal maintenance, primarily periodic cleaning to remove contaminants. Regular inspection for corrosion or wear is recommended, along with ensuring proper lubrication for moving parts in harsh environments.
Stainless Steel 347 Forgings find extensive use in applications that demand high strength, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance. They’re commonly found in furnace parts, heat exchangers, boiler components, chemical processing equipment, and petrochemical plants. This alloy is also well-suited for aerospace, power generation, and industrial machinery components where high-temperature performance and mechanical reliability are crucial. Additionally, Stainless Steel 347 Forgings are utilized in piping systems, pressure vessels, and various other applications where durability is key.
