Phehlukwayo Metals is one of the prominent metal manufacturing and supplying companies located in Cape Town, South Africa. For decades, it has experience in this business, providing customers with an assortment of high-grade metal products with a promise of long-term strength and performance. Tool and Die Steel H13 bars are among its prime products that show remarkable resistance to wear, heat, and thermal fatigue. These H13 bars are perfect for tooling, dies, and other high-stress applications. Phehlukwayo Metals is dedicated to providing superior materials that meet the diverse needs of industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing.
Tool and Die Steel H13 Bars contain 0.4% Carbon, 5.2% Chromium, 1.3% Molybdenum, 1.0% Vanadium, 0.3% Manganese, 0.3% Silicon, and a trace of Phosphorus and Sulfur. This alloy composition offers exceptional toughness, resistance to wear and high-temperature strength. Mechanical properties of the H13 steel bars are really excellent, and they have tensile strength up to 1,450 MPa, hardness range between 45-55 HRC, and thermal shock resistance. Their excellent machinability and good strength retention at elevated temperatures make them suitable for the most demanding applications like die-casting, forging, and extrusion, providing durability and reliability even in environments where other materials may compromise.

When choosing Tool and Die Steel H13 bars, consider factors such as hardness, heat resistance, wear resistance, toughness, machinability, and the specific requirements of the application, including temperature and load conditions.
Tool and Die Steel H13 bars offer limited corrosion resistance due to their high alloy content, but they can still be susceptible to rusting in harsh environments. To improve corrosion resistance, they may require additional surface treatments like coating or regular maintenance to prevent degradation.
Tool and Die Steel H13 bars are primarily designed for tooling and high-temperature applications. While strong, they are not ideal for structural applications due to their specific properties tailored for manufacturing tools.
H13 tool and die steel bars are used extensively in industries that demand high toughness, strength, and heat resistance. These are mainly found in the production of hot-working tools, namely dies, molds, and extrusion tools for aluminum, zinc, and magnesium. H13 bars are great for forging dies, die-casting molds, and plastic injection molds because of their excellent thermal stability and resistance to cracking due to thermal stress. Moreover, H13 steel bar exhibits application in punches, shear blades, and cutting tools by their resistance towards wear and abrasive characteristics. Therefore, they hold high significance because of the temperature stability with high hardness and retention for applications where tooling should be of good precision.
